Welcome to our blog. It's a place where we post stuff we like. Latest work, inspiration, pop culture minutiae, you get the idea. Enjoy.

Run-and-Gun Goodness.

Miller @ UA photo shoot

Yesterday we had a photo shoot at the University of Alabama’s business school (our agency has been working with the Culverhouse College of Commerce for about 7 years). It was a run-and-gun kind of improvisational shoot. Under the art direction of ACD Diana Nichols, our intrepid photographer, Miller Mobley, shot like a mad man. At the end of the day, we had covered 16 set ups and over 1000 photos.

I’m looking forward to seeing the shots, which I’m sure will be anything but typical. We’ll share the work when it’s finished in September.

(By the way, during one set-up, I realized we were in my old Accounting 101 classroom. Kind of weird.)

New dynamics.

public

Isn’t this the truth? Brand transparency has been on my mind a lot lately. No question it’s on every brand manager’s mind as well. I’m jotting thoughts down and will have some solidly-formed opinions to share soon.

Concept meets casino.

FndYrslfBlogHeading1

Most casinos are wholly-promotional animals. So when our friends at IP Casino Resort approached us for a branding campaign, we jumped at the chance. The idea all started with the thought, “what if there was another ‘you,’ a more fun you?” Literally. And he or she liked to go out and get a little wild at times.

The resulting “Find Yourself at IP” campaign was a year in the making, avoids all category cliches (that is, people jumping up and down, holding fistfuls of cash) and employs dozens of tactical executions–including TV, outdoor, print, interactive, social media like Facebook and Twitter, in-casino elements and airport kiosks, to name a few.

Click here for an overview of the campaign.

Or, better yet, upload your pic and find yourself at IP.

Hey Mom! We’re on Design Chat.

design_chat_blog2

We’re super excited to be the featured guest on tonight’s Design Chat. That’s right kids. Andy Kiel and I will be chatting about design on the interweb. It’s going to be massive.

What exactly is Design Chat? It’s weekly, real-time twitter-based conversation between creatives. Video chats start at 8pm CST on Wednesdays and last about an hour on mashable.com/chat. You can continue before and after on twitterfall.com/#designchat.

Tonight we’re going to be talking about all kinds of stuff, and the format is very loose–which we like. So there’s no topic off limits. The rough pre-chat set list may or may not include the following:  brand transparency in the digital age, designers being pulled in too many directions, the biggest changes happening in the industry right now, corporate brands’ adoption of social media and our perspective on how design and advertising can actually make people fall in love with your brand.

Really, we’re honored to have been asked to speak. Thanks to Ryan McGovern for inviting us. Please stop by, join the conversation, ask us some questions or heckle us.

In the works: TV magic.

dino_shoot

The kids at the Square have been very busy making alllllll kinds of TV magic for allllll kinds of great clients. Can’t really say too much at this point, so consider this a gratuitous teaser: talking dinosaurs, paleolithic armageddon, blindfolded-knife-throwing, plutonium, SWAT teams and tear gas.

Fun is an understatement. We’ll post more when we can.
